Mark Cuban's Daily Routine

Cut the meetings and make time to play. Mark Cuban's daily routine runs on email, with an hour of basketball every morning.

Overview

Mark Cuban sold Broadcast.com to Yahoo in 1999, bought the Dallas Mavericks in 2000 and spent years as an investor on Shark Tank. His daily routine runs almost entirely on email: 8 to 10 hours of it, and no meetings unless he's closing a deal.

He wakes between 6:30 and 7:00 AM and spends the first hour answering email in bed. After breakfast he plays an hour of basketball, which is his cardio. He stops between 5:00 and 6:00 PM, watches TV and goes to bed around midnight, as CNBC reported in 2024.

It's for anyone whose calendar is so full of meetings there's no room left to move. It suits people who communicate well in writing and are tired of talking through what an email could say.

Put the work in writing and you get the time back: exercise every morning, a clean stop before dinner and evenings with nothing to prepare for. You don't need 8 hours of email. This week, try replacing one recurring meeting with a written update. The exact wake and stop times, the meals and the weekend are our estimates.
