Katie Ledecky's Daily Routine
Build a fitness habit that survives a busy life. Katie Ledecky's training schedule barely changes: up at 5:00 AM, a nap between swims.

Overview
Katie Ledecky is the American distance swimmer with more Olympic golds than any other woman in the sport. She has won the 800 metres freestyle at 4 straight Olympics. Her training schedule barely changes from day to day, and that sameness is the plan.
She told Bustle in 2025 that she wakes at 5:00 AM, has a snack and swims from 6:00 AM, then lifts, eats a second breakfast, naps and swims again in the afternoon. Sunday is the exception: only a loose swim, without a clock. In 2016 she told ESPN she was in bed by 9:30 PM, and she told Oura she unwinds with reading, TV or the piano.
It suits people who want a fitness habit that survives a busy life, especially early starters who like their week to look the same. There is nothing left to decide.
You get a rhythm you stop having to think about: an early start, a midday nap, the same bedtime and one easy day. Her 20 to 25 hours of training a week is elite, so scale it down a long way. The afternoon swim time, meal times, Saturday and the Sunday details are our estimates.
